9,534 miles from home

There have been moments in my life- only a few- where being born in Minnesota and raised in Texas left me feeling bilingual.

Pop or Coke. Dinner or supper. Muskmelon or cantaloupe. I now have a solution to that last one- it is neither muskmelon nor cantaloupe. In Australia, it's rock melon. That makes a lot more sense- the actual object looks more like a rock than anything else. And of course, I learn this right down the street from a very famous rock.

We have more exploring this morning in Yulara, followed by a flight to Cairns. At that point, it looks like we can trade in our jackets for some swimwear and have a look at the Great Barrier Reef. It's all very interesting, and again, I can hardly wait.

I was chatting with my mother this morning before breakfast, and she mentioned that Cas and I are currently 9,534 miles from home. Given how terrifically strange this place is, it actually feels farther.

I did promise her we would come back. Until then, and because there were no great photos at breakfast this morning, let me just leave you with our selfie from yesterday in front of the Mutitjulu watering hole. (Just don't ask me to pronounce it...)
