Kata Tjuta

Kata Tjuta apparently translates to many heads. Sounds about right. It's a series of domes that look a bit like heads sticking up from the flat land. We've positioned our heads between them in this photo:

We took a bus ride to a walking path that runs along a valley between two of the domes. The terrain was extremely bumpy, making it a bit difficult to go quickly. It was also pretty chilly and very windy.

After a walk that could have easily proved disastrous to our ankles, we made our way to the cultural center that was part museum, part art/gift shop. We're nearly done with the chill of the red center, now, as we fly to Cairns this afternoon. It will be nice to pull some shorts and sandals out of the luggage.
